Kenneth L. Farris, age 68, of Boonville, died Monday, November 9, 2020, at Ashley Manor Care Center.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 12, at Howard Funeral Home in Boonville, where visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 11.

Kenneth Lynn Farris was born April 22, 1952, in Boonville, Missouri, the son of Hargrove H. and Eulah V. Honerbrink Farris. He graduated from Boonville High School in 1970, and went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from CMSU in 1974. Ken married Sandra McClure on July 15, 1972, and they eventually made their home in Boonville on the family farm.

Ken began his accounting career in 1974 under the employ of Paul Darby. He earned his CPA status, and in 1987 he purchased the business from Mr. Darby where he worked until November 2019. Ken also spent several years as Executive director of the Howard-Cooper Regional Port Authority. He was a member of the AICPA, MSSCPA, Friends of Historic Boonville, and previously the Boonville Jaycees. He served as foreman of the grand jury that initiated the building of the Cooper County Detention Center.

He loved his work and interacting with his clients. Farming was in his blood, and he spent many hours farming crops and cattle on the farm. If Ken wasn’t behind a desk he could be found on a tractor.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Earl Farris, a sister, Barbara Knight, and his beloved Aunt Bea Hickam. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sandy, a son, Kirk Farris (Brandy), a daughter, Kacey Arnold (Andrew), two grandsons, Kaleb and Kolin Arnold, brothers Don Farris and Jim Farris (Sonya), all of Boonville, a sister, Janet Belk, of Fayetteville, NC, and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friends of the Boonville Library or AFA (Agriculture Future of America). Online condolences may be left at: www.howardfh.com.
