The Windsor Greyhounds captured their first-ever state football championship on Saturday.

The Greyhounds pulled away to claim a 43-20 victory over the Mid-Buchanan Dragons in the Class 1 State Title game at Blair Oaks High School in Wardsville.

In a game that saw nearly 1,000 yards of total offense, Jake Vencill’s Greyhounds, who never trailed, accumulated 562 yards, including 283 through the air.

Greyhound quarterback Kenton Sargent threw five touchdown passes. Dalton Witherspoon totaled 147 yards rushing and three catches for 103 yards and one receiving TD. Dylan Witherspoon hauled in two passes for 122 yards and two scores and rushed for 34 yards and another score. Camden Fowler and Jacob Berube also had TD receptions.

The Greyhounds- of the Kaysinger Conference and formerly of the I-70 Conference- finish the season a perfect 15-0. Mid-Buchanan ends its season at 13-1.
