
Two area residents charged with the murder of a teenager in an area county earlier this year and are being held without bond are scheduled to have court proceedings this month.
Evan Lanigan, age 25, of Warrensburg, and 28-year-old Christian Harrison, of Knob Noster, are charged with the murder of 18-year-old Maliyah Lakey, of Warrensburg, on August 1.
The Warrensburg Police Department says officers were called to a residence in the 400 block of Grover where they discovered three shooting victims. Lakey was dead at the scene. A 20-year-old male and a 17-year-old female were transported to an area hospital for treatment of what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries from gunshots.
Lanigan is charged with Murder in the Second Degree, three counts of Armed Criminal Action, two counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Assault in the First Degree and Assault in the Second Degree. Harrison is charged with Murder in the Second Degree, three counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, two counts of Assault in the First Degree, two counts of Armed Criminal Action and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (a convicted felon in possession of a firearm).
A preliminary hearing for Lanigan is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Thursday, December 10; and by agreement of all parties, Harrison’s case was removed from the preliminary-hearing docket and moved to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16, for a waiver of the preliminary hearing at Johnson County Circuit Court.
