Prices in the Midwest Region, as measured by the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U), edged down 0.2 percent in November, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported.

According to a news release, the November decrease was most influenced by lower prices for energy, but food prices also fell.

Over the last 12 months, the CPI-U increased 1.0 percent. The index for all items- less food and energy- increased 1.6 percent over the year and food prices rose 2.7 percent. In contrast energy prices decreased 9.3 percent.
