
A 42-year-old Bates City man had to be flown from the scene of a traffic crash in Benton County on Sunday.
A report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred as a vehicle, driven by 42-year-old Derek Tumbleson, of Joplin, was traveling southbound and another southbound vehicle, being driven by 65-year-old Brian Crowl, of Quincy, Mo., was stopped, partially blocking the southbound lane of the roadway. Tumbleson’s vehicle impacted the towed unit of Crowl’s vehicle, which caused the towed unit to strike a pedestrian.
While neither driver was injured, 42-year-old Ronald Crowl was transported by Cox Air Care to Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar for treatment of serious injuries. A 12-year-old boy in Tumbleson’s vehicle was transported by Warsaw-Lincoln ambulance to Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar for treatment of moderate injuries.
The crash happened at 5:50 p.m. on Highway 83, just north of Highway 82.
