Two more COVID-19-related deaths were confirmed in Saline County on Friday, January 15.

According to the county’s COVID-19 Dashboard, its total is now 49 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic. In addition, the total positive case count increased to 2,502- up 18 from the day before. With 2,299 previously-positive cases now deemed inactive and 49 deaths, there are 154 active cases in the county, down one from the day before.

The active COVID-19 case count dropped in two other area counties, as well.

Health-department officials in Pettis County say there were 21 new positive cases but 29 recoveries. The county’s total positive case count is now 4,592. With 4,201 total recoveries and 68 COVID-19-related deaths, there are 323 active cases, including nine positive patients hospitalized.

One new positive case and four recoveries were reported in Chariton County. The total positive case count is now 751 in the county. Due to 16 deaths and 677 recoveries, there are 58 active cases.

Updates were not available from Carroll, Cooper, Howard and Lafayette Counties.
