Born October 26, 1933 in Dawn, MO, she was the daughter of the late Taft Sprouse and Ruth Waters Sprouse. Rook was raised in the Dawn community, graduating from Dawn High School in 1951, graduated from Chillicothe Business College and then worked for Farmland Industries in Kansas City. On August 24, 1956 she married Tom Evans who preceded her in death on July 28, 2019. Tom and Rook lived in Kansas City for two years until they moved to Marshall in 1958 where they made their home.
Rook’s life revolved around her family. With the arrival of her children in 1958, 1960 and 1963, she chose to stay at home and was an integral part of their lives. Whether it was sporting events, music concerts, she was always there. This love of family grew even stronger once her grandchildren came along and she could again be found at all their events.
Rook was active in the Marshall community where she was a member of First Baptist Church, being actively involved in her Berea Sunday school class and traveling seniors, and a member of The Monday Club and Chapter GM of PEO. She proudly served as a board member for the Salt Fork YMCA and Fitzgibbon Hospital.
She is survived by three children: Bryce Evans of rural Marshall, Brad Evans (LeaAnne) of Marshall, and Julie Lewis (Jim) of Marshall; nine grandchildren: Ann Lewis, Hunter Lewis (Susan), Morgan Evans (Allison), Mac Evans (Aubrie), Reece Evans, Haley Tietz (Henry), Molly Evans, Logan Evans, and Avery Evans; one great-granddaughter, Addison Evans; four sisters-in-laws; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Lear Sprouse.
