Covid-19 vaccine is scheduled to arrive in Pettis County this week for individuals who are in the designated categories. The Phase 1A category was for Health Care Workers and Individuals in Long Term Care facilities. As announced by the Governor, we are moving to the 1B Category Tier 1 and Tier 2. This group includes First Responders, Emergency Services Personnel, Emergency Management, Public Works and other identified individuals who maintain our community. Tier 2 includes anyone aged 65 and older and adults between 18 and 64 with the following health conditions – cancer, chronic kidney disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, intellectual and/or developmental disabilities such as Down’s Syndrome, heart conditions such as heart failure, coronary artery disease or cardiomyopathies, immunocompromised state, severe obesity (BMI over 40) pregnancy, sickle cell disease or diabetes.
Pettis County Health Center is working with Bothwell Regional Health Center, Katy Trail Community Health, AFC Urgent Care and Woods Pharmacy to begin the vaccination process by appointment only. Appointments are being scheduled for those who pre-registered. Please note where you are to receive your vaccine as it may not be where you signed up. The Vaccine Coalition with continue to work with other partners as more vaccine becomes available.
In order to sign up for an appointment, we are using a central registration process. Please complete the pre-registration form available on the Pettis County Health Center website www.pettiscountyhealthcenter.com or the Bothwell Regional Health Center website at www.brhc.org . You may also sign up by completing a paper form that is available at the Health Center and mailing or faxing the form to 660-827-1141. If you can not register any other way, you may call the Health Center at 660-827-1130. We are continuing to conduct case investigations and contact tracing for positive COVID cases, so you may receive a busy signal or message we are closed due to no phone lines being available. Please call back.
When pre-registration forms are received, they will be distributed to the organization that will schedule the appointment based upon vaccine availability. We will provide vaccine as quickly as possible. At this time we do not have a regular schedule of vaccine delivery. We ask everyone to be patient as we work to vaccinate our community. For those receiving a 2 dose vaccine, your appointment for the second dose will be made at the time you receive your first dose.
Information about the vaccine is available at www.MOStopsCOVID.com. There are resources for community members, vaccinators and others. This website has a good explanation of how the mRNA vaccine works and how it was developed.
