A Plea/Trial setting is scheduled in the case of a Sedalia man whose conviction was set aside last year.

Coupled with charges that arose while being incarcerated, a Sedalia man, who changed his plea from not guilty to guilty on July 10 to two counts of a sex-related felony involving a juvenile and assault of law enforcement in Saline County, was sentenced to spend a total of more than three decades in state prison on Monday, September 11.

According to online court documents, Jerome Lee Williams II, now 23 years old, pleaded guilty to two counts of an Unclassified Felony for Statutory Sodomy or Attempted Statutory Sodomy– Deviate Sexual Intercourse with a person less than 12 years old. On each count, court documents say Williams was ordered to be remanded to the Department of Corrections for 25 years, with the sentences to run concurrently. Those convictions were set aside on April 19, 2020.

The charges arose as, on January 6, 2020 when the Marshall Police Department was advised of an emergency Child Abuse/Neglect hotline call in reference to an adult allegedly having inappropriate contact with a 6-year-old.

A Plea/Trial Setting in this case has been rescheduled for 11 a.m. on Monday, March 8 at Saline County Circuit Court.
