Sandra L. Gates, 84, of Kansas City, MO, died Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Bishop Spencer Place in Kansas City, MO.

She was born February 26, 1936 in Sedalia, a daughter of the late Cecil B. and Lucille Miller Gates.

Sandra was raised and educated in Sedalia. She was a 1954 graduate of Smith Cotton High School and Senior Queen. She attended the University of Missouri and graduated with a degree in Art and Elementary Education. She taught elementary school in Norborne, MO and later worked for the Kansas City Public Library for many years until her retirement.

Surviving are a brother, Roger Gates of Sedalia; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Ronald H. Gates.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Henry Mendoza for helping look after Sandra over the past several years.

A private family graveside service will be held Monday, February 8, 2021 at Crown Hill Cemetery with Pastor Chance McMullin officiating.. Friends may sign the guestbook and pay their respects from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2021 at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Sedalia or Kansas City Animal Shelters, in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
