
Presiding Commissioner William H. (Bill) Gabel submitted a letter of resignation to Governor Parson and County Clerk Diane Thompson on Friday, March 5th. His last day of service to the County will be Tuesday, June 15, 2021.
Gabel is currently serving his third term as Presiding Commissioner. He took office January 1, 2011 and was successfully elected to two more terms.
Gabel stated in his letter that he has built great relationships among his fellow commissioners across the State of Missouri and with his fellow elected officials in Johnson County. “As Presiding Commissioner, it has been my pleasure to be a part of several projects such as bringing the Dollar Tree Distribution Center to our county, extending the Spirit Trail from the Warrensburg City Limits to the Knob Noster State Park, and replacing the roof of our historic Johnson County Courthouse, to name a few,” he stated.
Thompson forwarded the letter of resignation to the Governor and Secretary of State offices. Pursuant to 49.060(3) RSMo, the Governor shall fill the vacancy by appointment.
