pfizer-vaccine

Due to the unpredictability of possible side effects from receiving the second Pfizer vaccination, some adjustments have been made to the Marshall Public School District’s calendar.

According to Superintendent Dr. Carol Maher, several MPS employees received their first shot on Wednesday, March 10. Those individuals who received the Pfizer vaccine then have a three-week wait between the first and second shots, which puts the date of the second dose on March 31.

Dr. Maher said she did not have troublesome side effects from her second shot, but others have.

Dr. Maher says, “In an attempt to be sympathetic to the possibility of widespread absences and knowing the critical shortage of substitutes in the district, the CO team has made plans (and run them past the school board) for the day following the second-shot clinic.”

The calendar changes are:
· March 31: COVID vaccination clinic at Spainhower Primary School;
· April 1: No School;
· April 2-5: Easter Break; and
· May 27: Make-up day.

Since May 27 is on the calendar as a make-up day, the board doesn’t need to vote to change the official calendar.

Speaking of calendars, March 17 (Happy Green Spring Break Day!) is a full day until 2:15 p.m.

Dr. Maher says, “The question of an employee early-out was brought to our attention, but we have many students who receive services on Wednesdays, so we need to be in session until the regular release time.”
