Two new councilmen and two incumbents were elected to seats on the Marshall City Council during the Municipal Election on April 6.
Running unopposed in Wards 2 and 4 were newcomers Robert Ashford and Harold R. Simmons, respectively. Incumbent Dewey Hendrix ran unopposed in Ward 1 and Charlie Guthrey won the race with James Hannink to return as Ward 3 Councilman.
All four men were sworn in by taking the Oath of Office by City Clerk Julie Lewis during the council meeting on Monday, April 19.
The two new members will replace Tom Hagedorn in Ward 4 and Chuck Hines in Ward 2, who decided not to seek another term.
Mayor Julie Schwetz thanked them for their service.
Each elected councilman will serve a two-year term. Next year, the seats currently held by Leon Thompson in Ward 1, Kirk Arends in Ward 2, Dan Brandt in Ward 3 and Craig Thompson in Ward 4 will be up for election along with Mayor Schwetz.
