Edward A. Zahn, age 83, of Marshall, MO, died Sunday, May 9, 2021 at home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 15, at First United Methodist Church in Marshall, with Ed’s brother, Rev. Frederick Zahn officiating. Burial, with military rites, will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. There will be no visitation, but friends may call Friday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. In lieu of food, please consider a donation of food to the Marshall Food Pantry and in lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are suggested to Missouri Valley College, Saline Animal League, Saline County Fair Association or First United Methodist Church.

Ed is the son of the late Virgil P. and Audrey Henley Zahn and was born in Marshall on August 1, 1937. He was a member of First United Methodist where he served on various boards and committees during his membership.

As a youngster he was educated in the Marshall school system and upon graduation he attended Missouri Valley College.

In 1960 he served his country by being trained in the infantry in basic at Fort Leonard Wood, MO and upon completion of that was sent to cooks school also at Fort Leonard Wood. After graduation from cook’s school he was transferred to Fort Sill, OK where he served in a Little John Missile Battalion (at that time state of the art defense system) and they trained other units from all around the world of foreign troops.

Following his tour of duty he returned home to the family farm and in December of 1962 purchased an adjoining farm and started farming in conjunction with his father. In addition to farming, Ed worked for many years at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home.

In January of 1964 he met what became the love of his life, Miss Donna B. Igo and they were married on April 12, 1964. They celebrated 57 years of marriage this past year.

Besides his wife Donna; he is survived by one brother, Frederick (Laura Ann) Zahn of Springfield, MO; 13 nephews and nieces with five of them being his godchildren, Andrew Zahn, David and Chris Igo, Jeannie Horton and Mike Donnell. Also surviving is his mother-in-law, Mrs. Emily Moore and a brother-in-law, Sam (Melody) Igo.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by a sister in infancy, Virlene Zahn and one brother, Robert Zahn.
