guilty-plea

A 30-year-old Boonville man will serve some jail time involvement in a traffic crash that involved injuries.

On June 21, Spencer Paul Huffman was driving too fast for conditions around a curve and was on the wrong side the roadway without passing when the stolen SUV he was driving crashed into another vehicle. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports, two juvenile occupants of the vehicle Huffman struck, were transported to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment of injuries. Authorities say they located alcohol and numerous illegal drugs inside the stolen SUV.

Huffman withdrew his not guilty plea and pleaded guilty to a felony for possession of a controlled substance. The State dismissed all other charges which included: a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance and a Class D Felony for Stealing a Motor Vehicle, as well as Class E Felonies for Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Causing Physical Injuries and Driving While Revoked or Suspended.

On Monday, May 10 Huffman was sentenced to serve four years in the Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
