During the meeting of the Glasgow School Board on Wednesday, May 12, the board OK’d a couple of action items regarding purchases.

According to unofficial minutes from the meeting, the board approved the installation of network wireless internet in the elementary building. This same upgrade was installed in the middle school and high school areas last summer. Seventy percent of this project will be paid by utilizing an E-rate grant, so the direct responsibility for the school district will be 30 percent or $6,917.

In other news, the board approved the purchase of a new pole vault mat system for the track. The current mat was purchased second hand many years ago and is in a state of disrepair and creates a safety hazard for track athletes.

The board also set two board meeting dates in June. The first meeting will be held on June 8 and the second on June 29. Both meetings will be held in the Board of Education room at 7 p.m. Holding two meetings will allow the board time to consider approval of requested summer projects early in the month and close out the fiscal year by the last day of June.
