An area law-enforcement agency is alerting residents about a scam.

According to the Warrensburg Police Department, scammers are calling people with a phone number making it look like it is your bank or credit union.

When you answer, they are asking for your PIN. With your PIN, they can access your account. Authorities advise you to never give out your PIN.

If you receive an unsolicited call from your financial institution, hang up and call back using a number you know belongs to your financial institution.

If you believe you are a victim of this scam, phone your financial institution immediately and inform it your account is compromised.

Authorities say, “Be careful with your PIN.”
