A 24-year-old Lexington man facing a couple of felony charges related to an incident in Lafayette County on September 1, 2020, changed his mind about wanting a speedy trial.

According to a Lexington Police report, officers responded to a domestic disturbance, and the calling party said Earl Stackhouse was beating on her door with an axe. Before officers arrived, the caller advised dispatch that Stackhouse had gained entry to the residence.

After officers arrived and ordered Stackhouse to drop the axe, he fled the scene. Stackhouse was apprehended a short time later and taken into custody.

Court documents say Stackhouse pleaded not guilty on March 24 to Class E Felonies for Resisting/Interfering With Arrest for a Felony and Unlawful Use of a Weapon-Exhibiting. Stackhouse posted $15,000 surety bond on April 12.

On June 9, Stackhouse withdrew his request for a speedy trial.

His next court appearance is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
