During the meeting of the Marshall School Board on Thursday, June 24, Superintendent Dr. Carol Maher talked about the number of resignations and retirements that have affected the district.

Dr. Maher showed a slide that included the numbers from every year back to 2012- and the 57 this year is significantly higher than any of the previous nine. The previous most was 43 in 2013.

Dr. Maher said the administration distributed surveys to all 57 of the employees who are leaving and received 25 of them back- 19 from teachers and six from staff members.

Survey results included responses to: I feel my job at MPS is important (14 strongly agree; eight agree; two neutral; one disagree; zero strongly disagree); I am satisfied with my overall compensation (four strongly agree; 13 agree; three neutral; five disagree; zero strongly disagree); My supervisor and I have a good working relationship (15 strongly agree; eight agree; zero neutral; two disagree; zero strongly disagree); The culture of MPS is healthy, supportive and uplifting (Two strongly agree; nine agree; nine neutral; four disagree; and two strongly disagree); MPS is dedicated to my (and my colleagues’) professional development (five strongly agree; 13 agree; two neutral; five disagree; zero strongly disagree); Employees of MPS are willing to take on new tasks without fear (Two strongly agree; 13 agree; five neutral; five disagree; zero strongly disagree); MPS employees adapt quickly to challenging situations without an abundance of complaints (Two strongly agree; eight agree; six neutral; nine disagree; one strongly disagree); I would highly recommend MPS to a friend of colleague (Three strongly agree; six agree; 12 neutral; two disagree; two strongly disagree); I have enjoyed my time working for Marshall Public Schools (10 strongly agree; seven agree; seven neutral; zero disagree; one strongly disagree).
