As Independence Day nears, the Higginsville Police Department reminds citizens of ordinances related to the use of fireworks within the city.

Authorities say it is only legal to shoot fireworks from July 2 to midnight on the Fourth of July inside the city limits. It is unlawful to shoot fireworks in the streets, alleyways, parks or public property. It is also unlawful to shoot anything into the air that does not completely consume itself (example: bottle rockets.)

If you have further questions, you are urged to refer to the Higginsville City Ordinances 215.680-215.700 online at <https://www.ecode360.com/HI332>.
