smoke-testing-in-progress-7-13-21

The City of Knob Noster is scheduled to conduct smoke testing on some of the city’s sewer lines from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14.

According to the Johnson County Emergency Management Agency, this will take place south of U.S. Highway 50, where the city’s oldest sewer lines are located.

The smoke used is nontoxic to humans and animals and will not stain.

Officials say most residents will not be affected, but if you detect smoke in your house during this period, you should open the doors and windows and check your sewer drain. If smoke is coming from your sewer drain, you should gently pour a gallon of water down it.

Officials also say you may also notice a smoky smell when running tap water. They say the smoke is harmless, so the water is safe to use.

If you have any questions, call Knob Noster City Hall at (660) 563-2595.
