A new alderman was sworn in at the beginning of the Concordia Board of Aldermen meeting on Monday, July 19.

According to unofficial minutes from the meeting, Wayne Lindemann was sworn in as Alderman Ward II.

In other news, aldermen approved an ordinance authorizing the execution of the rental contract for the use of Central Park with the fair board of the Concordia Civic Club, establishing permission for use of Central Park for the annual Concordia Fall Festivals; setting requirements of the city for such permission; setting the dates for such permission and waving normal rental fees for shelter houses.

Aldermen also voted to buy some new furniture for the board room for $3,200.

It also was announced Concordia Elementary School is planning a back-to-school day on Wednesday, August 18. Food trucks will be invited. Aldermen voted to allow food trucks for this event be exempt from purchasing licenses.

Aldermen approved the city’s property tax-levy hearing to be held at 5:15 p.m. on Monday, August 16.
