drug-bust

A 26-year-old Simpsonville, South Carolina, man facing a drug-related felony charge after a large cache of marijuana and other drug-related items allegedly were found in his vehicle after a traffic stop on I-70 in Lafayette County more than a year and a half ago is due in court.

According to a report from a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper, he says he found 256 vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana weighing approximately one pound each; three vacuum-sealed packages containing approximately 98 THC oil cartridges; 18 small containers of marijuana; two packages of THC edibles; and a marijuana cigar in the vehicle driven by Daniel Alzate.

Court documents say Alzate is charged with a felony for trafficking drugs or attempt in the first degree.

Alzate pleaded not guilty on April 7. His next hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 11, at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
