A Waverly man who is facing multiple felony charges following an incident on June 9 is due in court on Monday, August 16.
According to a probable-cause statement, a Waverly Police officer responded to a physical disturbance in the area of Old Bridge Road near Thomas Drive. During the investigation, it was determined that there was cause to arrest Brandon Shackelford.
Shackelford later allegedly led authorities on a short vehicle pursuit, resisted arrest and had to be Tased. Once Shackelford was taken into custody, authorities say he began kicking the back window of the patrol vehicle, trying to break the glass.
According to court documents, Shackelford is charged with felonies for domestic assault in the second degree; resisting or interfering with arrest for a felony; two counts of escape or attempted escape from custody while under arrest for a felony; and several misdemeanors. Originally held without bond, the court lowered bond, and Shackelford, who pleaded not guilty on June 11, posted $9,750 bond on July 14.
Shackelford’s case was bound over to the trial division, and he is scheduled to be arraigned at 9 a.m. at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
