The number of COVID-19 hospitalizations remained the same in Lafayette County on Friday, August 27, as it had been the previous two days.

According to the Lafayette County Health Department, 22 county residents are hospitalized due to the virus.

The active case count dropped by 18 from 138 to 120.

There were 11 additional positive cases, raising the county’s total to 3,274; and there have 64 COVID-19-related deaths in the county since the beginning of the pandemic.

As of August 27, the positivity rate was 20.07 percent, according to the CDC Data Tracker.

Health officials say the fully vaccinated rate is 36.9 percent of the county and 42.5 percent of its residents have received at least one dose, as of Thursday, August 26.

A walk-in COVID-19 vaccination clinic is scheduled to be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, at the health department in Lexington.
