On August 24, the Sedalia Police Department took a theft report in the 1100 block of South State Fair Boulevard. The victim reported that someone stole several items from his unlocked vehicle. Among the items stolen were multiple credit and debit cards, as well as cash, and a suspect was soon developed.

The next day, officers with the Crime Resolution Unit were able to locate the suspect during a vehicle check. The suspect was brought to the Police Department and questioned by the Criminal Investigation Bureau. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was placed on a 24-hour hold.

According to court documents, 21-year-old Tanner J. Leary, of Sedalia, is charged with felonies for stealing and fraudulent use of a debit or credit device. Bond is set at $15,000 cash or surety.

Leary was arraigned on August 30. A counsel-status hearing is scheduled to be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, September 7, at Pettis County Circuit Court.
