Starting this week, Marshall Municipal Utilities will begin a Free Chlorine Conversion at the water treatment plant in Marshall.
According to the city of Sweet Springs, during this time, MMU will cease feeding ammonia and feed only chlorine to disinfect the water. This practice is part of the annual routine maintenance for the water distribution system.
Customers may notice a difference in taste and/or smell of the water over the next four to six weeks.
The Sweet Springs Public Works Department also will be flushing the system. This is a routine practice and commonly done as maintenance of the distribution system.
During this time, residents do not need to do anything different unless they are a dialysis patient. If so, then they should contact their healthcare professional with any questions.
Sweet Springs city officials say, “While we are flushing in your area, you may want to avoid washing any light- or white-colored clothing.”
If you have any questions, contact City Hall at (660) 335-4564.
