During the meeting of the Marshall City Council this week, Ward 1 Councilman Dewey Hendrix explained seven proposed ordinances- each executing an agreement with the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission and KC Southern Railway to close various crossings at streets and avenues to work on each rail crossing for safety.

Hendrix explained the overall scope of the project.

Hendrix continued…

In all, the crossings to be closed at different times during the approximate $3 million project that will not cost the city one thin dime are on North Benton, English, Jefferson, Lyon, Miami and Odell Avenues and West Boyd Street. Hendrix said the work is probably a year or so out.

The council voted to approve the first reading of each of the agreements. A second reading of each will need to be approved before they go into effect.
