A court proceeding is scheduled for a 21-year-old La Monte resident who allegedly led authorities on a high-speed pursuit on multiple roadways on January 26.

According to a Pettis County Deputy’s report, the deputy attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle did not stop. The deputy later made contact with the vehicle in La Monte, and the driver sped away again. The pursuit continued on several county roads and rural routes. Stop sticks were placed on Route K, and deflated the right front tire. However, the suspect continued until it stopped at the intersection of Routes D and T. The two subjects in the truck were ordered out at gunpoint.

Angel Martinez is charged with a felony for resisting arrest, stop or detention by fleeing and a misdemeanor for operating a motor vehicle without a valid license. Martinez posted $3,000 surety bond on January 29.

Martinez waived his formal arraignment and pleaded not guilty on September 7. His next hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday, October 18, at Pettis County Circuit Court.
