Some fake “C-notes” have been reported in an area city.

According to the Sedalia Police Department, over the past week, it has received several reports of counterfeit $100 bills being used at area businesses.

So far, 19 businesses have reported that the suspects attempted to use the bills.

Only a few businesses were able to identify the bills as counterfeit because they are passing the market test, though it appears the electronic devices used for checking the bills is catching them.

The counterfeit bills do not have the watermark on them.

The suspects are believed to be driving a 2010 black Lexus passenger vehicle with Illinois plates.

Authorities say, “We are urging all local businesses to be especially vigilant, and, as always, please report any illegal activity to us as soon as possible.”
