A 24-year-old Sedalia man facing multiple felony charges relating to an incident in Johnson County on August 26 has a court proceeding set for this week.

A Johnson County Sheriff’s Department’s report says authorities allege Justice Ryan Taylor entered a residence without permission while the resident wasn’t home. When the resident returned home, Taylor is alleged to have had a knife in his hand and used it to force, intimidate and coerce the person into a vehicle. The alleged victim told authorities Taylor hit them in the chest to get them to get into the vehicle. The alleged victim said Taylor forced them to drive to Sedalia. The vehicle was stopped about an hour and half later, and Taylor was located under blankets in the van.

According to court documents, Taylor is charged with felonies for kidnapping in the first degree, burglary in the first degree and unlawful use of a weapon- exhibiting; as well as misdemeanors for domestic assault in the fourth degree and violation of a protection order. Bond remains $10,000 cash only.

Taylor pleaded not guilty on August 30.

Taylor’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 28, at Johnson County Circuit Court.
