A Marshall man who was charged with felonies after a pursuit in Marshall on June 24 recently changed his plea and has been sentenced to spend some time in the Missouri Department of Corrections.

According to a probable-cause statement, a deputy tried to pull over Ethan Harris, but Harris failed to stop and continued at a high rate of speed. Additional authorities were called to assist with the chase. The vehicle later was located at the intersection of Lincoln and 200th road; the front end had collided with the ditch; and Harris was running through a soybean field.

Court documents say Harris was charged with felonies for tampering with a motor vehicle in the first degree and resisting arrest, detention or stop by fleeing; and three misdemeanors.

Harris, who originally pleaded not guilty, pleaded guilty to all charges earlier this month in Saline County Circuit Court. The judge sentenced Harris to five years on the tampering charge; three years on the resisting arrest charge; 30 days on one of the misdemeanors; and $100 fines on each of the other two misdemeanors. All of the prison sentences are to run concurrently.
