In October, the Marshall City Council approved the first readings of seven ordinances regarding the execution of agreements with the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission and Kansas City Southern Railway Company to improve railroad crossings in the city.

During the meeting of the council on Monday, November 1, the council considered the second readings of the ordinances. Ward 1 Councilman Dewey Hendrix explained the ordinances.

Hendrix said there has not been any negative feedback lately.

Ward 3 Councilman Charlie Guthrey asked Hendrix a question about emergency services- if they have contingency plans to work around all of the closures.

Hendrix said during an earlier meeting that the estimated cost is $3 million- but the city is not investing one thin dime.

The council approved the second readings of the ordinances for railroad crossings on Benton, English, Jefferson, Lyon, Miami and Odell Avenues, as well as Boyd Street.
