Less than a handful of issues were before voters in the KMMO listening area during the special election on Tuesday, November 2.

There were two issues on the ballot in a specific Lafayette County community and one in a Saline County school district.

According to unofficial results from the Saline County Clerk’s office, voters voted down a proposed operating tax levy issue for the Orearville R-4 School District. The final vote total was 53 No and 44 Yes. The total of 97 votes cast was a 33.56 percent of the 297 eligible voters in the district.

In Lafayette County, Lake Lafayette voters approved two propositions on the ballot.

According to unofficial results from the Lafayette County Clerk’s office, Proposition 1 for a one-percent sales tax was approved by an 18 to 4 vote margin.

Proposition 2- to impose a local Use Tax at the same rate as the total local sales tax rate- currently one percent- provided that if the local sales-tax rate is reduced or raised by voter approval, the local Use Tax shall also be reduced or raised by the same action- was approved by a 17 to 5 vote margin.

A Use Tax return shall not be required to be filed by persons whose purchases from out-of-state vendors do not- in total- exceed $2,000 in any calendar year.

The total of 22 votes cast was 11.17 percent of the eligible voters in Lake Lafayette.
