Some roadwork is scheduled to start in Cooper County on Friday, November 5.

According to the Cooper County Emergency Management Agency, MODOT is scheduled to begin demolition of the damaged Sorrels Overpass over I-70.

The contractor will be allowed to close two lanes of I-70- one direction at a time- for 15-minutes intervals via the use of a rolling road closure. The closure shall occur over a weekend period as determined by the contractor in consultation with the engineer.

The Closure shall begin no earlier than 9 p.m. on Friday prior to the weekend period and shall end no later than 5 a.m. on the subsequent to the weekend period.

Any work requiring a reduction in the number of through lanes of traffic on I-70 shall be completed during nighttime hours. Nighttime hours shall be 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. for this project.

It is recommended that you choose an alternate route to avoid traffic delays.
