Area authorities are alerting residents about a scam.

According to the Cooper County Sheriff’s Office, this scam involves someone calling and claiming to be a representative from Direct TV. The scammer then says they will cut your bill in half and provide free movie channels in regards to COVID-19. The individual will then ask for credit card information and an up-front payment of $395.

Officials say the actual Direct TV company has been contacted. For more information or to report a recent scam, you can contact the Sheriff’s office at (660) 882-2771.
