Gene A. Mullins, 81, of Marshall, died Tuesday, November 9, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, November 15, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with William W. Harlow officiating.  Visitation will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.  Private family burial will be at a later date.  Memorials are suggested to Children’s Mercy Hospital or Crossroads Hospice.  An online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com

Born July 4, 1940, in Sweet Springs, MO, he was the son of the late Steward W. “Moon” Mullins and Rhoda Ola Pointer Mullins.  On February 19, 1960, he married Rose Alleen Scharnhorst who survives of the home.  Gene lived in Saline County most of his life and worked at International Shoe Factory for 35 years until it closed.  After the shoe factory closed he then went to work at Midwest Glove Factory and retired from there after 10 years of service.

In addition to his wife; he is survived by four children: David Mullins (Maxine), Kerry Mullins (Cortney), Robin Mullins, and James “Jay” Mullins (Paige), all of Marshall; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one brother, Charles Mullins of Marshall; two sisters, Violet Yokeley of Forsyth and Donna Schreiman of Waverly; as well as nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; and one grandson, Scotty-boi Mullins.
