During the Marshall Municipal Utilities Board of Public Works meeting on Wednesday, November 10, General Manager Jeff Bergstrom said MPUA has issued an alert for high energy prices and possibly supply constraints for the upcoming winter season.

Bergstrom explained natural gas prices are expected to double in prices and there may be possible supply constraints, causing a similar scenario to last year’s Winter Storm Uri in regards to high market prices for electricity.

Although MMU does not supply natural gas to customers in Marshall, MMU is scheduled to communicate the issue with area residents.

In other business, the board made a motion to appoint Bergstrom to represent MMU on the Marshall-Saline Development Corporation (MSDC) Board, effective January 1, 2022.

According to MMU’s meeting agenda, since MMU contracts with MSDC for economic development efforts in excess of $10,000, it is entitled to appoint a representative to the MSDC Board.

Bergstrom is the current representative on the MSDC Board and serves as the secretary/treasurer.
