Sheila G. Lunsford, 74, of Marshall, formerly of Slater, died Thursday, November 11, at her home.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Smith Chapel Cemetery south of Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating.  Memorials are suggested to the Smith Chapel Cemetery or Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.

Born October 24, 1947 in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late John E. Grigsby and Nellie Herman Grigsby, who survives of Warrensburg.

On May 29, 1976 in Laurie, she married Dannie R. “Dan” Lunsford, and he preceded her in death on January 11, 2012.

She is survived by a son Brian Lunsford and his wife Chris Ann of rural Marshall; a step-son, Dustin Lunsford of Tacoma, Washington; a step-daughter, Heather Allen of Higginsville; seven grandchildren, Holly Rayl, Delta Lunsford, Logun Lunsford, Hailey Lunsford, Dalton Lunsford, Christopher Allen and Johnathon Allen; six great-grandchildren, Braxton Rayl, Pyper Rayl, Rylea Lunsford, Lanney Lunsford, Novah Amos, and Runa Ludwig; two brothers, Charles “Butch” Grigsby of St. Mary’s Georgia, and Gary Grigsby of Warrensburg; her mother-in-law, Dora Mae Lunsford James of Hughesville; a brother-in-law, Paul James of Higginsville; two sisters-in-law, Donna Fortune of Columbia and Debra Hendrix of Sedalia; and a step-brother-in-law, Robert James of rural Slater.

Mrs. Lunsford was a member of the First Baptist Church of Slater.  She was a 1965 graduate of Slater High School.  She worked at beauty salons in Sedalia and at Tan-Tar-A Resort at Lake Ozark, Missouri before moving to Vicksburg, Mississippi.  She returned to Slater in 1983 and owned and operated The Beauty Nook until her retirement in 2013.  Until recently, she worked in the Food Service Cafeteria Program for Marshall Public Schools. Sheila was an avid micro sprint race fan never missing a Saturday night to watch her favorite drivers Brian & Logun.
