Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt issued an order requesting  all school districts to stop mask mandates and quarantines immediately.

In response, Superintendent Dr. Carol Maher has notified the district that all Marshall Public Schools’ quarantines are being dismissed, as of 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 7.

Dr. Maher says, “Of course, anyone with symptoms should remain at home. Students and adults who are close contacts but do not have symptoms, may come back to school tomorrow (Wednesday, December 8).”

Although quarantines will not be enforced, per federal order, masks are still required on MPS buses.

Dr. Maher added, “Parents of students who have been quarantined are encouraged to make the decision whether or not to send their child(ren) back to school based on their own good judgment. Children who are kept home and can provide documentation of their close contact with a positive COVID case, will not be counted as absent. In other words, documentation of testing positive, or being identified as close contact to one who is positive, are the only ways in which a student may be granted justification for a COVID absence.”
