The Pettis County Sheriff’s Office has issued a moderate wind advisory for area counties until 12 a.m. Thursday, December 16.
According to a press release, southerly winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph are expected. The KMMO listening areas under the advisory included Cooper, Howard and Pettis counties – from 9 a.m. Wednesday, December 15, continuing through midnight hours.
Authorities say gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects, tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
Responsive action should be taken immediately by securing outdoor objects. Drivers are advised to use extra caution, especially if operating a high profile vehicle.
The Pettis County Fire Chief Mike Harding also urge residents to not burn materials, due to dry and windy weather conditions.
