A Howard County school district will have a new superintendent at the start of the next fiscal year.

According to the New Franklin R-1 School District, at the December 15 school board meeting, Benji Dorson was hired as the new superintendent for the 2022-23 school year.

Dorson currently is New Franklin High School principal and has been with the district for 20 years. He was the high school science teacher for seven years prior to becoming the building principal for the last 13 years. He will begin the superintendent duties July 1, 2022.
