Due to railroad improvements, an area city has announced an upcoming street closure.

According to a news release, the Union Pacific (UP) Railroad has notified the City of Sedalia that beginning at 7 a.m. Thursday, January 13, and continuing through 5 p.m. January 14, UP is scheduled to be  making improvements to the rail crossing at the street intersection at Engineer Avenue.

City officials say travelers will need to plan alternate routes, as the roadway will be closed to through traffic during the planned construction period.

The closest through street to the east of Engineer Avenue is Emmet Avenue. The closest through street to the west of Engineer Avenue is Washington Avenue.
