
Betty L. Arth, age 88, of Marshall, MO, died Saturday, January 15, 2022, at The Living Center in Marshall.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 20, at St. Peter Catholic Church, with Fr. Christopher Aubuchon officiating. Burial will follow at the Missouri State Veterans’ Cemetery in Higginsville. There will be no visitation, and masks are strongly suggested for the service.

Betty was born on August 19, 1933, in Dallas County, MO and was the daughter of the late Charles Albert Guthrie and Clara Garrison Guthrie. She graduated from Glasgow High School in 1950 and worked as a preschool teacher for over 25 years with Marshall Public Schools and Noah’s Ark Preschool at First Christian Church in Marshall. On May 20, 1954, she married Ray Arth who survives of the home. Betty was a longtime member of St. Peter Catholic Church, its Altar and Rosary Society, and the Daughters of Isabella. She was also a Girl Scout leader for 10 years and received the St. Ann Medal, an award for outstanding contributions to the spiritual development of girls under her care. In addition, Betty also volunteered for many years with Meals on Wheels.
In addition to Ray, her husband of 67 years; she is survived by two children, Karen Prichard (Tom) of Kansas City and Doug Arth (Joan) of Kearney; two grandchildren, Stephanie Ramirez (Daniel) of Kansas City and Brian Prichard (Maggie) of Northfield, MN; two great-grandchildren, Owen and Mia Ramirez; one sister, Peggy Buchholz of Hortense, GA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; and three siblings: Ray Guthrie, Helen True and Virginia Knipmeyer.
