The Saline County Commission cut a couple of checks to water districts out of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds the county has received to date.
The county received $2.2 million of its $4.4 million allotment in May 2021. The commission took applications from different agencies, school districts and colleges for various reasons and graded the applications in late 2021. During a meeting in December, the commission awarded money to several different agencies and Missouri Valley College.
During the commission meeting on Thursday, January 20, Northern District Commissioner Stephanie Gooden said checks have been cut to Public Water Supply Districts No. 1 and No. 3 for necessary projects. The payout was $295,000 for Water District No. 1 and $135,000 for Water District No. 3.
Gooden said they suggested the water districts wait until more money comes in from the state, however, Water District No. 3 has to get its project done now.
