Due to no quorum, available members of the Slater City Council met in an informal meeting on Tuesday, February 15, to discuss an announcement made by Mayor Dr. Stephen Allegri regarding the Slater Special Road District.

For the past 61 years, the City of Slater and the Slater Special Road District have operated together on an informal agreement.

In his report, Mayor Allegri said the Road District’s board has decided they no longer want to reimburse the 20 percent of a voluntary tax on the assessed evaluations provided by the City.

Mayor Allegri says with a petition of 50 registered voters in Slater, an election can be called to dissolve the current Slater Special Road District – saving citizens over $109,293 annually.
