The Saline County Sheriff’s Office received information from area authorities about a suspected stolen tractor-trailer unit from Chariton County at approximately 7 p.m. Monday, February 28.

According to a news release, Chariton County Sheriff’s Office provided information about the tractor-trailer, including color, business name and license plate information. At approximately 7:05 p.m. a Saline County deputy observed a tractor-trailer unit matching all the information and conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of College Street and U.S. Highway 65 in Marshall.

The Marshall Police Department and additional deputies were called to the scene to assist with the incident – with the sheriff’s department leading the investigation.

On Wednesday, March 2, investigations revealed the tractor-trailer was not stolen, however, it was towed following the traffic stop. This incident has been determined to be a civil issue, therefore no arrests were made.
