Two Sacred Heart High School speech and debate students are headed to the state tournament.

According to a release from the school in Sedalia, Mariah VanLeer is the district champion in humorous interpretation, and Sophie Anderson placed second in storytelling.

VanLeer and Anderson also are district champions in duo interpretation.

Lexi Owens was third in radio speaking.

VanLeer and Anderson advance to the Missouri State Speech and Debate competition in Springfield in April.
