One Marshall High School student has qualified for the Missouri State Speech and Debate Tournament in two competitions.

According to a news release, at the Central District Speech Tournament over the weekend, Andrea Gooden won the dramatic interpretation category and placed second in poetry reading- qualifying for state in both.

William Lovell was fourth in informative speaking and Kollin Huse fourth in original oratory.

The Missouri State Speech and Debate Tournament will be held in Aril in Springfield.

Students from MHS have qualified to compete at the state tournament in 43 of the past 44 years.
