During a special meeting of the Marshall City Council on March 29, the council accepted the formal letter of resignation from Julie Schwetz after she served nearly three years as mayor.

So, at the council meeting on Monday, April 4, the council was asked to make a move to appoint a mayor to fill out the rest of the four-year term.

Mayor pro tem Dan Brandt explained the city received two formal applications.

Brandt made a motion to appoint a current council member, who had expressed interest in filling the role until April 2023.

The council voted to approve Hendrix to the post.

After the swearing-in ceremony of council members on Monday, April 18, the council will need to approve two more council members- one in Ward 4 and Hendrix’s seat, which is up next April.
